Skip to contentWhether you are trying to conceive naturally or preparing for IVF, acupuncture can support you. I have been specialising in Fertility issues (IVF, ICSI and Natural conception) for both male & females since 2005. Whether you have been diagnosed with a certain condition:
• Unexplained infertility
• PCOS
• Endometriosis/Fibroids/Cysts
• Recurrent miscarriage
• Male infertility
• Beginning your acupuncture journey will help you feel much more calm and
more in control of your life.
Research has shown that acupuncture can help with fertility by regulatinghormonal imbalances; improving blood flow; reducing stress and anxiety;regulating the menstrual cycle; improving Sperm quality; and of coursepromotes overall health.Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve the success rate of IVF. When you undertake IVF then I work with the IVF protocols, which basically means when you start down-regulating I shall be down-regulating you, when you start stimulating I shall be stimulating you. There are protocols before egg retrieval and before transfer, however, the only treatment you usually require (if you have already been having acupuncture) would be the treatment straight after egg transfer.
Acupuncture during pregnancy is a safe way to support and promote good health and prepare both mum and baby for birth, when performed by a qualified, licensed practitioner who knows you are pregnant to avoid specific “forbidden points”.
Due to the calming effect on the nervous system acupuncture can help reduce the impact of stress hormones on the body and mind. There are also several conditions that can be experienced during pregnancy that acupuncture can safely help to manage, such as:
• nausea and morning sickness.
•headaches and body pains
• digestive issues
• insomnia and tiredness
• constipation & hemorrhoid’s
• pre- and post-birth
By using specific acupuncture protocols, developed by midwives, pre-birth acupuncture offers a safe way to help prepare and promote a natural labour for mum. The emphasis of these treatments are to help the pelvis to release and to create space for the cervix to soften. Usually recommended around week 36/37 onwards.
I recommend Acupuncture Induction post- 40 weeks and although I have known it to work after just one session it usually requires several sessions over consecutive days. As I always say “Your baby will come when it is ready too”.
